Timely Test Schedules

1. Daily / Weekly: Blood Sugar Monitoring at home using a Glucometer (SMBG) 2. Once in a month: Fasting (8-10 hrs.) & Post Lunch (1½ - 2 hrs. after food) Blood Sugars (Should not discontinue the scheduled diabetic medicines while giving blood sample) at a reliable clinical laboratory 3. Once in three months: Computerized HBA c 1 Urea & Creatinine 4. Once in six months: Fasting Lipid Profile Micro-albuminuria Urine Spot Protein / Spot Creatinine Ratio (If indicated) Serum Electrolytes (If the patient is on ARBs, ACEs, or Thiazides) 5. Once a year: Complete Blood Picture Complete Urine Examination Liver Function Test (If the patient is on Gloxazones, Statins) Electrolytes Vitamin - D 6. Once in two years: Chest X-ray PA View or earlier ECG Ultra-Sound Scan of the Abdomen 7. Once in two years: Foot Study: Doppler Flow Study of Lower Limbs (Vascular Study) Biothesiometry of Foot for Vibration Perception (Neuropathic Study) Foot Examination, Foot Pressure Study, Foot X-ray (If required) 8. Once in a year: Eye: Retinal Examination (Review once in six months if Retinopathy present) 9. Once in a year: Teeth: Dental Examination 10. Once in two years: Heart: Cardiac Evaluation Other Special Tests (TMT, 2D Echo, Carotid Doppler if indicated) Physiotherapy, Psychiatric Counselling (If required) *The need and frequency of tests vary from patient to patient depending on their individual health status.
