9 Refreshing Summer Drinks for Diabetic people

Stay refreshed during summer with cool drinks, but diabetics must opt for low glycemic index options to avoid blood sugar fluctuations.

1. Water

1. Drinking plenty of water keeps one hydrated and healthy Plain water doesn't appeal, create a variety. Adding slice of lemon or orange. Adding springs of herbs like mint, basil, lemon balm. Crushing fresh raspberries into the drink.

Seltzer water

Seltzer water is free of calories carbs, sugars Great way to stay hydrated and support healthy blood sugar levels.Different flavours can be made by adding some fresh fruif and herbs to give a delicious twist.

Ice Tea

Green tea lowers T2 diabetes without sugar. Herbal tea like chamomile, hibiscus, ginger, peppermint are excellent for diabetes.Herbal tea is rich in disease fighting antioxidant compounds, including carotenoid, flavonoids and phenolic acids

Tender Coconut

Coconut water is a natural source of electrolytes and can help replenish the body after a workout or a day in the sun. Be sure to choose a tender coconut where the water is not sweet, to keep the sugar content low

Unsweetened coffee

A glass of iced coffee is a great way to get a caffeine fix on a hot summer day. Choosing unsweetened or sugar- free syrup and low- fat milk or milk substitute like coconut milk, cashew milk or badam milk is best to keep calories and sugar content low

Milk Alternatives

Milk Alternatives like almond, oat, rice, soy, rice, or coconut milk are dairy-free and low in carbs. They are fortified with important nutrients like calcium and vitamin D, which play a key role in bone health. Soy and rice milk contain carbohydrates, and many nut milks contain a minimal amount of protein, so use them wisely.

1. Green smoothie

Green smoothies are excellent way to squeeze fiber and nutrients in the diet being hydrated. Make the juice by green vegetables like spinach, kale or celery with some protein powder and few nuts. You can add fruits also, but remember to count daily carb intake.

Vegetable juice

This delectable drink also popularly known as chaas can be relished on a sweltering hot summer day. Buttermilk is a low glycemic index product and a powerhouse of vitamins and probiotics. It is recommended to consume buttermilk post meals as it aids in digestion and prevents blood sugar spikes.
